Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised).
-Hebrews 10:23
Every girl wants to be told that she is beautiful, and that her life matters. She wants to feel as if she's worth more than her curves and sex appeal. Especially young girls, yet not excluding the rest of us. The first thing every young girl should hear is that God loves her. The second should be that she was made in his image and likeness and thus she is beautiful. But, for whatever reason the first thing that many of us learned was our strength.
We have learned to protect ourselves. We protect ourselves from the negative things that people say, verbal abuse, mental abuse, child molestation, rape, sexual assault, work place discrimination, cyber bullying, petty drama, prostitution, enemies who disguise themselves as friends, nay sayers who just so happen to be family, inferiority to male counter parts and a host of many obstacles. We are strong. For many of us, from the very beginning and for a very long time, it seemed like all anyone ever wanted to do was tear us down. To tell us a long list of what dreams were possible, and what dreams lack possibility. Very few encouraged us to dream big, but it's our nature to do it anyway.
Cooking and cleaning are wonderful capabilities, but that is not the scope of who we are. We were not born into this world to solely serve as house wives and soccer moms. We are more than pop divas, cover girls, and video vixens. We are intellectual beings, who refuse to be defined by a world that applauds radical fashion statements, demeaning song lyrics, premarital sex, drug abuse, domestic violence, and all sorts of indecent behavior.
Young women must know, in fact you must know, that God gave every single one of us a finger print. There are no two people in this world who have ever had the exact same one. Embrace who God made you to be, don't fall victim of identify theft. Don't allow the media to define you. In fact, never let anyone outside of you define you. Scripture speaks to the fact that God seeks to dwell on the inside of you, for your heart is the headquarters of your true being in both the natural and super natural.
Women of God walk with a purpose, with their heads held high, and their expectations of Christ even higher. The favor of God is upon your life Woman of God, for you are a joint heir in the Kingdom as well. God loves you, and allowed you to come into this world for a reason and a purpose. You are a, "good thing" (Proverbs 18:22). You can not be defined by any man or dysfunctional relationship. Women of the faith, must not allow the world to redefine the definition of who it is that we are. We must stand up, and lead by example. We must continue to give God our best praise in every endeavor, giving him the credit as we take on those Top executive positions at legal accounting firms, political positions, entrepreneurial opportunities, engineering occupations, medical research occupations, business executive positions, or whatever it is that God has called you to do. The Christian woman must be the example that the world may see that children of the most high shall not and will not bow down to the expectations of the world. We will walk in the skin we're in, comfortable and going with God every step of the way.
Let us bow:
Lord,
We thank you for your love, power, and protection. Thank you for protecting us from dangers both seen and unseen. God thank you for granting us life in a century in which the role of women has been redefined to one where we can more freely express our love for you without restraints or restriction. Now Lord we ask that you give us the strength to fight gender inequalities in the work force, violence against women, rape, and other strategies and traps set before us that we might fall victim of dysfunction and a lack of peace. We speak life in the lives of all of your children, asking that you bless everyone so that they might be a blessing to others. Bless and keep us in the name of the Christ we pray, Amen!
