In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.
Psalm 10:4
Are you as fantastic as you think you are? Are you as perfect as you think you are? Do you really make mistakes as seldom as you'd like to believe or are you tripping? Do you have a problem when someone attempts to correct you? Are you always the hero in your book, and everyone else the villain? Do you realize that at some point the people you take advantage of are going to get tired of it, and discontinue their act of kindness? Are you mad because you're wrong and you know it, or is this a temper tantrum?
Pride is an ugly thing, it eats away at other peoples perception of you simply because fashionably it's never in season. Attitudes get you no where, when you're the one in need so why not humble yourself, and start over? In fact, Rev.A. Wyatt once stated that, “an attitude is like a flat tire, you can't go anywhere until you change it.” Some changes must be made in order for progress (in the ministry that God has placed inside of you) to take place. Jesus while walking this Earth had it “going on”, he was without sin, he had all power in his had, all wisdom knowledge, and understanding in his cranium; not to mention he was perfect, yet in all of this he was humble. He submitted himself to the laws of the land, he spoke to everyone in love, he completed countless acts of kindness, completed a numerous amount of miracles, and the entire time he never lost sight of who it is that God called him to be, and what his mission was while on Earth. Yes he borrowed a few things while on Earth (including the tomb in which he was laid until her rose on the third day), but people didn't mind doing things for him because of the kind heartedness in which he functioned.
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud."- 1 Corinthians 13:4
Pride can effect you in such a way that you begin to look sloppy in your execution of The Lord's work. Your body language begins to convey a message that let's the world know that you feel as if you're doing God a favor, and that the work of The Lord is nothing but additional scheduled engagements (something that is the so far from the truth). Yes, God appointed you Shepard, but he did not appoint you God, therefore something is not right. Doing the work of The Lord is a demand in itself, but it's not a pedestal of superiority. Serving God is a call to humble ones self and serve. Serve as an instrument to God that you, "the vessel" might deliver God's message in a way such that people may begin to ask the question,"what must I do to be saved?" With open arms Jesus healed the sick and raised the dead, because he specialized in love. When prides shows up, it leaves the door open for selfishness, self fullness, inconsideration, and the will of God becomes more and more distant because me, myself, and I take top priority. God is not pleased, scripture tells us that, “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate” (Proverbs 8:13). God expects so much more from us. Nothing in the body of Christ is about I, Me, or My it's all about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and the perfect plan laid out for our lives. Our sole purpose of existence is to give God praise and to bring him Glory in all that we do, therefore we must lay our pride down to pick up humility. We must lay the ways of the world down to be about a divine agenda that is in place for our supernatural success. There are so many people waiting for you to fail, but if God be for you who can be against you? Don't just go on your way, go out your way for God!
Let us bow:
Lord,
We realize that everything that we do is for your Glory, Honor, and Praise. Therefore God we apologize for our selfish ways. You know our hearts Lord, you understand that sometimes we get caught up in the wrong aspects of matters, but we admit God that the latter is no excuse, and that we must at all times consider your love and sacrifice first. Thus, we thank you for keeping every single one of us every step of the way this semester, even when times Got hard Lord you carried us through, when we were weak you gave us strength, when we wanted to give up you gave us the push needed to continue on just a little while longer, thank you. Thank you for being God, thank you for granting us the wisdom that we might know how to be respectful toward one another (taking into consideration the feelings of others), thank you for teach us the art of Forgiveness (understanding that we must forgive to be forgiven),thank you for leading by example, thank you for the sacrifice of your son Jesus, thank you for everything. Help us to live lives that bring you glory and honor even as a ministry. Allow our work to reflect your goodness and mercy toward us, as well as your loving kindness. Bless us all and keep us all in the mighty and matchless name of the Christ WE PRAY, AMEN
