I'm Different

Some people are born with the "IT" factor. They seem to live beautiful lives, full of love and support. When they walk, there seems to be so much joy in every stride. When they speak,it seems as if every word is so profound that one must always be prepared to pull out a paper and pin to take notes. Well put together, neat, somewhat well known, structured, stern, and well mannered; some people just look important. So much so that some of us see them as wonderful role models, excellent mentors, and beautiful friends, but some saints take the above a little too far.

Every now and then we admire those individuals who seem to have it all together. We look at their lives and convince ourselves that the grass is indeed greener on the other side. Some of us have gone to such great lengths to be other people, that those who love us dearly, are no longer able to recognize us. And when those loved ones confront us with questions regarding our new persona, we lash out in anger and rage not because of their error, but because of the fact that they are close in proximity to our reality, the truth. Our new attitude, walk, talk, appearance, and personality begin to hinder who it is that God called us to be individually, but we insist that we'd rather be someone else than bear the cross that was designed for us.

Could it be, that we are so sensitive to what others say that we have ordained ourselves the spiritual doormat, by judging our self-worth by how many likes we get on Instagram? Could it be, that we have devalued our faith so much so that we no longer call upon the name of The Lord unless we are faced with an extreme test, trial, or tribulation? Could it be, that we've allowed our faith to be more about our feelings and less about our commitment to a sovereign God? Could it be, that we are notwho we say that we are, and that we are in fact hypocrites because of our inability to accept who it is that God has ordained us to be? We as a people, as a faith, have come to a place where God is not the inconsistency that the world sees, but we are. We must recognize and realize that everything that we do even as young people in ministry is under the microscope. Thus, we must change our aim, and discontinue attempting to please those in the congregation and pews. We must seek to praise God. We must accept who it is that God has designed us to be. Accept it, accept you, and watch God work things out on your behalf.

God said in Jeremiah 1:5 that, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations." God has a plan for your life and the longer you spend time trying to live life on what seems like the glamorous side, the more further away you become from what it is that God has for you. Everyone has their own share of trials and tribulations, never forget that too whom much is given, much is required. Walk your path, and stick to it. You may feel lonely sometimes, but God is there. You may have to let some friends go, but Jesus called you friend first so remain faithful to him. You are more than the pressure that you place on yourself to be someone that others will accept. Be encouraged, and be grateful because someone who is no longer among the living, wishes that they were. I'm sure there are plenty of people who if they could trade places with you would appreciate eyes to see, and a nose to smell. They would be grateful for feet to walk, and a mouth to talk. Some young person with a brain tumor would really appreciate peace of mind, and someone without a roof over their heads would appreciate your living space. God is faithful, and just, and he makes no mistakes. Every part of you is relevant to your purpose. Every part of you is relevant to your call. The more you deny yourself, the more you deny God's plan for your life. Romans 11:20 instructs us to remain steadfast through faith. Have the faith that God knew what he was doing when he made you, and know that it's ok to be different.

Let us bow:

God our father,

We've gone through a lot of changes to figure out who it is that you created us to be. We've gone out of our way to fit in and be accepted, and have just now come to the realization of the fact that we are different. Help us to realize that we are all members of the body, that we are all a part of your master plan, and that my contribution is only as great as my submission to your will and your way. So have your way God that I might become more and more comfortable with who it's that I am. Touch me that I might walk on the path that you have created for me, and into the destiny that you have made my own. I love you God, and I thank you for this opportunity to get it right with you. It is in themighty and matchless name of the Christ I pray, Amen!
